MY WEAVING

How do colors attach themselves to feelings? To memories? How do form, texture and light interact with one another to create an emotion? Love, loss, light are common threads. Wool and linen render nature to design. Materials tempt a tactile response. I probe human emotion to traditional materials and techniques. I acknowledge the long history of weaving, while challenging conventional methodology.

My work is connected to light, time, and change of season. It searches for stories revealed.  I attempt to capture the essence of place by revisiting the topic at different times of the day and different times of the year. Colors reveal themselves. Patterns emerge. I test the process. Pieces form raw and gestural, or structured and formal. Mood, color and vibrations within the textures evoke memories and perception.
